Zermatt Bergbahnen AG’s aim is to increase the benefit to visitors and their comfort. When the company carries out infrastructure renewal, it is always with an approach that is in harmony with nature. For its efforts and investments to improve the quality of its services, Zermatt Bergbahnen AG has received several certificates and awards, which are listed below.

ZERMATT - 5-STAR SKI RESORT

As in the previous year the Matterhorn Ski Paradise has been rated as a 5-Star Ski Resort and test winner of the best ski areas worldwide in 2022 by Skiresort.info. All the details of the test report you can find here.

SWISSTAINABLE - LEADING LEVEL 3

Zermatt Bergbahnen AG has been a pioneer among the Swiss cable car companies for sustainable experience and business for many years. In its consistent search for ways to strike a balance between environmental protection, social responsibility and growth ambitions, Switzerland Tourism has awarded us the new "Swisstainable" label at level 3 (leading) - the highest possible level.

TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice 2021

The Matterhorn Ski Paradise and the peaks Sunnegga and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise were awarded the Travellers' Choice 2021 by Trip Advisor. The award selects accommodation, restaurants, places of interest and holiday apartments that have always offered their guests a high-quality experience.   

Zermatt - 5-Star Ski Resort

The ski resort Matterhorn Ski Paradise has been rated as a 5-Star Ski Resort and test winner of the best ski areas worldwide in 2021 by Skiresort.info, the largest ski resort test portal in the world. You can view the detailed test report from Skiresort.info here.

Zermatt - the Best ski resort in the alsp in 2020

The Matterhorn Ski Paradise was once again crowned best ski resort in the Alps. The Best Ski Resort Report is the biggest independent visitor satisfaction survey in the Alps and is conducted every two years. After two overall wins in 2014 and 2016 and a second place in 2018, Zermatt has topped the ratings yet again in 2020.

Best of Swiss Apps "Skiguide Zermatt"

In Winter 2015/16 Zermatt Bergbahnen launched the perfect digital companion for the international Matterhorn Ski Paradise: the Skiguide Zermatt app. At an awards ceremony on 16 November 2016, the app was highly placed in the Best of Swiss Apps awards for 2016, gaining silver in the “User Experience” category and bronze in the “Functionality” and “Design” categories.

t.A.I. Werbe Grand Prix

At the T.A.I. advertising awards, matterhornparadise.ch won out against 21 other tourist websites, gaining the audience prize in the Website Tourism category, in a contest involving a total of 15'000 votes. In its own words, the Advertising Grand Prix is the fairest and toughest competition for tourism advertising media since the winners have to be selected by the jury as well as winning the audience vote.

Revegetation Award

Zermatt Bergbahnen AG has been awarded the 2013 Revegetation Award in recognition of its work in the area of renaturation. The award was given by the Swiss Bioengineering Association’s working group for high-altitude restoration (AGHB), which has been promoting the enhancement of the Alpine region by appropriate renaturation since 1996. The prize is awarded every two years.

Best of Swiss Gastro

The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise restaurant was honoured with the award for “Best of Swiss Gastro 2015” in the category “Activity”. Best of Swiss Gastro is the only public prize in the world of Swiss gastronomy. It is awarded annually to the best new catering establishments.

Minergie-P®

The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise restaurant, at 3'883 metres, is exposed to exceptionally harsh weather and snow conditions. The external walls are insulated with 52 cm of rock wool to ensure it is really comfortable indoors. The wooden construction is framed by metal and glass to give the building ample protection from the wind, which can reach speeds of up to 300 kph. These measures help to keep energy consumption low, and as a result the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise restaurant was awarded the MINERGIE-P® certificate.

Quality Label Level 3 (ISO 9001)

Zermatt Bergbahnen AG has recognized the need for process-oriented quality management and is working on ongoing improvement of the operational and organizational structure of internal company processes. Since 2005, Zermatt Bergbahnen AG has had ISO 9001 certification and reached the highest level of Swiss Tourism’s “Q-Program”.

A genuine commitment to environmental protection has a firm place on the agenda of Zermatt Bergbahnen AG’s corporate culture. We aim to optimize the processes relevant to the environment and minimize the risks and any residual environmental pollution. Zermatt Bergbahnen AG is ISO 14001-certified and has always set an excellent example where sustainability is concerned.
