A ticket to relax

A hiking trail beside Zermatt's five most beautiful mountain lakes

Clouds Clouds Clouds

Mountain lakes are places of pure tranquillity, a perfect spot to escape the stress of everyday life. So it’s a stroke of luck that the five most beautiful mountain lakes in Zermatt are so close together. You can choose which one you like best on the nine-kilometre path from Blauherd to Sunnegga.

It might be one of the two lakes for swimming – Grünsee or Leisee. Or perhaps Stellisee, in whose waters the reflection of the Matterhorn shines brilliant and clear. Or Grindjisee, in its bed of green. Or Moosjisee, a reservoir whose turquoise water gives it the feel of paradise.

Please note: Swimming is only allowed in the Leisee and Grünsee , unless otherwise signalled at the lakes.

Culinary Pleasure on the way

Apart from the idyllic lakes themselves there are plenty of other things to discover along the path –interesting stories attached to each of the various sites, for example. And observant walkers will be able to spot rare alpine plants. If you work up an appetite on the way there are Swiss specialities on offer at the restaurants on the Grünsee or Sunnegga to still your hunger.

You will never get enough of the mountain scenery all around you, though. Take your time, enjoy the views, the peace, the moment. Breathe in the clear mountain air. You will realize that on the Five Lakes Walk relaxation comes naturally.
